The City of Aiken is located near the mid-point of South Carolina's long border with Georgia, about 15 miles east of Augusta. US 1 and US 78 pass through the heart of the city, and Interstate 20 skirts its northern border. It is the seat of Aiken County.

Along the western edge of AikenCounty on the Savannah River sits North Augusta. The City was incorporated in 1906. It was formerly a winter resort that played host at different times to President William Howard Taft, John D. Rockefeller, Harvey Firestone and Marshall Field. Today, North Augusta is thriving community of nearly 22,000 citizens noted for being South Carolina’s riverfront community.
